Wanna Learn The Days Of The Week?

Because that is exactly what Rebecca Black attempts to teach you in this hilariously bad music video for the song, "Friday" that just went viral within the past few days. I watched the video on YouTube over the weekend and it had around 600,000 views and now it has well over 5 million views. Listening to the song you can tell that not a single syllable is actually a real voice but a computerized robot voice that has been run through layers of autotune. Now let's examine the lyrics. She discusses waking up, going downstairs, eating cereal and then rushing to the bus stop. Luckily she doesn't have to wait for the bus because her 13-year old friends are out illegally cruising and offer her a ride. Instead of just hopping in, Ms. Black observes that people are, "kicking in the front seat, sitting in the back seat" so she must make her mind up and decide which seat to take which means that if she wants the front seat the hoe in the front better move her ass to the back. Then starts the epic chorus which features Rebecca singing about, you guessed it, Friday. Unfortunately when Rebecca sings "Friday" it sounds more like "Fried Eggs." She basically just informs us that the weekend is all about partying and "fun, fun, fun, fun" even when you're 12. Later in the song she sings, "yesterday was Thursday, today it is Friday" and follows it up with, "tomorrow is Saturday and then Sunday comes afterwards." She's so insightful and informative. Who needs calendars anymore when you have the talented, ingenious Rebecca Black?! Now for the truly terrifying part....I can't get the damn song out of my head! I woke up at 4 am with "Friiiieeeday, Friiiieeeday" running through my head over and over and keeping me awake. Now without further ado I present to you the masterpiece that is "Friday" by Rebecca Black.

Track-by-Track Femme Fatale Review

Okay, I finally stopped shaking, crying and jizzing over how fabulous the album is long enough to write a review. Femme Fatale is definitely Britney's most musically adventurous album to date and features some great production from hit makers like Max Martin and Dr. Luke as well as Bloodshy. Femme Fatale is far superior to previous album, Circus and is on par with her 2007 masterpiece, Blackout. Now on to each individual track.

1. "Till The World Ends" - The song opens with the line, "This kitten got your tongue tied in knots I see"and it only gets better from there. Ke$ha co-wrote the track and her influence is heard throughout but Britney sounds much better singing it than Ke$ha would. The chorus of "Oh"s is extremely catchy and you will be singing along by the end of the song.

2. "Hold It Against Me" - Everyone has heard this one by now. It was a great comeback track for Britney, up-tempo, catchy and featuring a great dubstep inspired breakdown.

3. "Inside Out" - This track is definitely a future single contender. It features references to past hits and even includes the line, "hit me one more time." It's a mid-tempo track but the verses are delivered quickly by Brit creating an interesting juxtaposition. It's about a volatile relationship that Britney knows should end but the sex is just too good to lose.

4. "I Wanna Go" - This HAS to be the next single. It's an up-tempo number about masturbation and features a genius whistle section while Britney squeals, "Shame on me, to need release. Uncontrollably." The only way to describe this song is FUCKING EPIC. Go YouTube it. Like, right now.

5. "How I Roll" - This track stands out as the strangest song on the album, but in a good way. I have never heard anything like it and it suits Brit perfectly. It 's basically about drinking and partying and I'm pretty sure at one point she purrs, "You can be my fuck tonight." I <3 slutty Britney.

6. "(Drop Dead) Beautiful" - This is a good dance track. However it is kind of generic with cheesy lyrics and a horrendous rap from an up and coming California rapped named Sabi. The catchy chorus and Britney's great delivery save it however and it sounds great on a Friday night after a few shots.

7. "Seal It With A Kiss" - This is the sexiest song on the album for me. It's about a couple who pretend that they're not together while in public but steal away to the shadows for some raunchy fun when no one is looking. The chorus sounds like one long sighing orgasm and I love it.

8. "Big Fat Bass" - This track was produced by and features Will.i.Am whom I despise so for me this is the low point of the album. I wish Brit had stayed far away from Will.i.Am. The song however is better than I expected and Will.i.Am's rap is mercifully brief. The chorus goes, "I can be your treble baby, you can be my bass" but unfortunately no one told Britney that treble is not pronounced "trouble."

9. "Trouble For Me" - I really love this track. Britney sounds surprisingly great and the breakdown right before the chorus is extremely catchy. It's about an extremely charming, attractive man that everyone wants but when he and Britney are together it's always a disaster but she just can't resist.

10. "Trip To Your Heart" - This is a mid-tempo track that literally sounds like a cosmic glitter explosion. I really don't know what else to say about it. I like it but I don't love it.

11. "Gasoline" - This song gets the album back on track with a great dance beat and catchy lyrics. I constantly find myself singing, "When the music goes up and the sun goes down, lightning strikes and I'm on the ground." It's classic, pop perfection Britney.

12. "Criminal" - This track is a perfect way to end the album. It kind of comes out of left-field and sounds relatively acoustic when compared with the rest of the album. It features a flute and guitar and details the story of an extremely douchey guy that Britney can't help but love. She addresses her mother singing, "Mama I'm in love with a criminal and this kind of love isn't rational, it's physical." The song features Britney's best vocals since the Oops...I Did It Again era and I was extremely excited to hear her actually singing as opposed to purring and moaning.

Overall the album is quite possibly Britney's best offering yet but I'll put-off that official ruling for a few months to see how the tracks hold up over time. I highly recommend that everyone head over to iTunes now to pre-order the album, or if you're a psycho super-fan like me you can head to her official site and order the deluxe fan edition which comes with a hardcover book filled with over 60 pages of photos for a reasonable $70. Or I suppose you could just find a link somewhere and download it for free but if you do, remember that you're essentially stealing from me since I'm currently a Music Industry major looking to work for a record label within the next 6-months. So please don't steal from me, or my girl Brit.

Marble Hornets

I just came across this YouTube channel that features clips from a young film students unused footage. The student, Alex, began filming a movie and after becoming increasingly agitated and acting strange he suddenly halts production and refuses to talk to anyone involved about the project. His friend, unable to see the footage all go to waste, convinces Alex to let them have the footage and after viewing it posts the various strange clips they encountered. After giving the footage to his friend Alex demanded that the project never be mentioned again and promptly transfers school stopping contact with any of his friends. I've only watched a few of the clips and I'm already freaked the fuck out. If you like creepy stuff I highly recommend you check it out. I have not researched to verify if it is real or if it is a scripted project but regardless it's pretty good. Just start with the introduction and move on from there.

Saturday Night Live

Last night Miley Cyrus hosted Saturday Night Live and, like all episodes of SNL, it was hit and miss but I thought the opening monologue was exceptionally good. Miley pokes fun at herself and some other celebs who have gotten themselves into a bit of trouble. Her dress is heinous but other than that she looks good. A few other skits in the show further showcased Miley's knack for comedy. During a skit that featured Charlie Sheen hosting his own talk show, Duh! Winning!, Miley mocked Lindsay Lohan explaining to Charlie that she was "winning" because her new movie Herbie opened 68 months ago and the Los Angeles courthouse just gave her her own parking spot. Special shout out to the girl playing Christina Aguilera, the over singing was spot-on. Miley also played Justin Bieber in a new installment of the occasional "Miley Cyrus Show" sketch and her imitation of his ridiculous ghetto gestures was hilarious. There was also a total WTF sketch featuring a group of French people fighting and dancing like psychopaths which was quite amusing. Overall I was very impressed with her turn as host and look forward to future comedy projects from Miley. Here is the opening monologue, other sketches can be found on Hulu as well:  http://www.hulu.com/watch/221671/saturday-night-live-miley-cyrus-monologue

Britney Megapost

Britney is currently gracing the cover of V magazine, which I have never heard of but regardless I'm always down for a new Brit photo shoot and interview. The pictures are gorgeous which makes me wonder how she can look so amazing when she puts in some effort and so hideous in candids. Here are a few of the pics from the shoot.

And here is a scan of the entire interview. It's brief but it's cute and it made me so pumped for the release of Femme Fatale on March 29th.

It has also been announced that the 2nd single from Femme Fatale will be "Till The World Ends"which was penned by fellow chart-topper Ke$ha. Personally I'm not sure how I feel about this as Ke$ha tends to get on my nerves but I'll reserve my judgement for the finished product because only a 15-second snippet has leaked thus far. Here is the artwork for the single though. Loves it.

Lady Gaga

I have no idea why it took me so long to blog about the Lady Gaga concert but with the release of her "Born This Way" video today I figured it was time for a Gaga post. The concert was on Monday, February 21st at Madison Square Garden but we were in the city for a few days before the show and Sunday night we went out with our friend Tiffany and (unsurprisingly) got wasted which resulted in a 2nd degree burn on Justin's knuckles, don't try to make pizza while inebriated, and a hell of a hangover. Unfortunately we had to get to the Garden early to reserve spots in line since we had general admission tickets and the earlier you get in line the closer to the stage you are and needless to say, it was a rough 6 hours on the cold Manhattan sidewalk. I'm proud to say that I only had to sprint from line once to vomit which is quite an accomplishment for me. So after observing all the fellow fans (men in drag, replicas of Gaga's most outrageous outfits, etc.) and seeking refuge from the cold in a pharmacy, Wendy's, and Borders we were finally let into the arena which subsequently led to a stampede to the stage to secure prime viewing. After another solid hour of waiting The Scissor Sisters, Fun Fact: they got their name from the act of "scissoring" which lesbians partake in and this fact makes them immediately amazing, took the stage as Gaga's opening act and having never previously heard them I was very pleasantly surprised. The Scissor Sisters complimented Gaga's show very well and just look at the outfit that Sisters' front-man Jake Shears was wearing! Fabulous!

Following the Scissor Sisters' set we waited another hour and a half and endured at least 20 "BORN! THIS! WAY!" chants but finally Mother Monster took to the stage. Anyone who has ever watched Lady Gaga before knows that she is a great performer but in person there is an intensity about her that is incredible and more than a little scary. She screamed and sang her way through a 2-hour plus show. Her voice was strong but I was most impressed with all the talking she did to the crowd. She was very empowering and made her fans, at least myself, feel like they could do anything. She also jokingly referenced the rumor that she has a penis, she doesn't if you're curious and was just an entirely great entertainer and speaker. She sang all her biggest hits and the entire crowd, which included Paul McCartney in the front row, was singing and dancing along. Here is a kind of blurry, dark picture of McCartney.
Overall it was an amazing experience and made me love Lady Gaga even more than I already did PLUS I forgot to mention that the show was being recorded by HBO to air on the channel on May 6th so all of you with HBO should tune in and try to spot Justin and I in the crowd. We put on a show for the cameras a few times. Okay now on to some pics of Mother Monster herself.

And here's a picture of Justin, Tiffany and I waiting for the show to start.
Okay I'm gonna wrap this post up but everyone should check out Lady Gaga's new video for "Born This Way" because she not only gives birth to a race free of judgement, she also dances her ass off and rocks some zombie/skeleton-esque makeup which is pretty badass. Not to mention that her body looks flawless.

R.I.P. Girlicious

The stupendously skanky trio (formerly a foursome) has officially called it quits and their 15 fans, myself and Justin included, are just devastated. The group was created on a CW reality show entitled The Pussycat Dolls Present: Girlicous and it was every bit as tacky and trashy as the title suggests but I was obsessed with the catty antics of the beautiful bitches. Nichole Cordova, Natalie Mejia, Chrystina Sayers and Tiffanie Anderson (only featured on their first album) made some great dance/pop music. Their energetic live performances, and their svelte figures even prompted my friend Leigh and I to create the "Girlicious Diet" which consisted of eating nothing and dancing constantly in order to get in shape for revealing Halloween costumes. One of my biggest regrets is never seeing the group live but I suppose sobbing over old YouTube videos will have to suffice. For everyone reading this that has no idea who I'm talking about I'll post some of their finest work. You're welcome!

Girlicious - Maniac This is easily their best song and should have been a worldwide smash but people suck so it was basically a huge flop but the accompanying video is sexy as fack so check it out.

Girlicious - Liar Liar Hot song, great choreography.

Girlcious - Stupid Shit One of the trashiest videos ever? Probably. Amazing? Hell yes!

Girlicous - Like Me Their first single and only minor hit, it should have been a bigger hit.

Oscar Post

Alright, so i've seen quite a few of the Oscar nominated films this year and i've decided to give my insight on the ones I have seen.

First one of the year I saw was Toy Story 3.

Let me just say that in my opinion this was in my opinions one of the best choices for best picture. The movie allows audiences both young and old to get back in touch with their inner child. Without giving too much away the movie focuses on Andy getting ready to venture off to college and trying to figure out what to do with all the toys from his childhood. Not going to lie, by the end of this movie I was in tear mode and really felt the movie did a good job of showing what it's like to move on from childhood.

Next, i'd like to turn my attention to Black Swan.

This for me was probably one of the most anticipated movies of the year. I had heard such good things about the movie from the time it was released and was soooo ready for it to be released to theatres over Christmas break but it never came. I ended up downloading the movie online and watching it over my break. Let me just say I was thoroughly impressed with the movie. It's definitely a movie you need to go into with an open mind otherwise you will most likely think it's just a cheesy hollywood attempt. However, if you don't just take the movie for face value you will realize that the acting is incredible, the story is great, and it's just an overall good movie. I'm truly rooting for Natalie Portman to win the Oscar for Best Actress. However, if Annette Benning pulls an upset I wouldn't be totally crushed.

The next film I will be looking at is Inception.

Well, what is there to say about this one. WHAT a mind fuck. I absolutely loved this movie. I thought the concept was so creative and it was just so intense to watch. While many people most likely walked away from this being like what the hell? It really isn't that difficult to understand. If you simply place the pieces of the movie together and figure out what each different part of the dreams represents then you should have no problem understand. But, if you still can't get it for yourself there are plenty of blogs out there that give some great interpretations of the film. I am SO excited that everyone is signed on to do a sequel and i'm sure that it will produce some great things.

And finally, tonight I was able to watch The Kids Are Alright.

I absolutely loved this movie. I think it was a very real account of what any family could go through (minus a few little logistics) Other than that I was very happy to see a lesbian couple and the struggles they go through as they raise their 2 children. The movie has a very Little Miss Sunshine vibe and if you're open to some interesting real life viewpoints then definitely try this one out.

Britney Spears

Okay I just watched the new Britney Spears video, "Hold It Against Me" and I felt the need to blog about my endless love for Ms. Spears. I've been obsessed with Britney since 1999 and in some ways I almost feel like we grew up together. I cheered when she excelled (i.e. her "Oops...I Did It Again" and "Slave 4 U" VMA performances) and was devastated when her life fell apart (i.e. shaving her head, being strapped to a gurney and her "Gimme More" VMA performance) but regardless of whether I was thrilled or depressed I always cared and I can literally think of no other celebrity that am so moved by or care so much about. I don't know if it's her southern charm and endearingly obvious lack of fashion sense or her always catchy music and eye popping videos but I just can't not like the girl. Her first record was released while she was 16 and produced the #1 single "...Baby One More Time" and this year, at the age of 29, she will release her 7th album Femme Fatale, which features fellow #1 single "Hold It Against Me", proving that she has the fan base and staying power of fellow icons like Madonna and Cher. I'm currently slightly drunk and high on a few hits of Britney (a.k.a. I watched her new video like 15 times) so I'll stop rambling but here is a link to the new video and a few of my fave Brit pictures. Enjoy!

Parks and Recreation

Justin and I have been obsessed with this show for the past week. Amy Poehler is hilarious as the optimistic but dim-witted Leslie Knope. Here is a video with a collection of some of her funniest moments from the first two seasons.
Leslie Knope

I also just started watching Six Feet Under and while it is a completely different show than P&R I'm definitely enjoying the dark humor vibe and it was created by Alan Ball, the man that wrote American Beauty which is one of my favorite movies so if you haven't seen either you should check them out.

The Grammys

Each year the Grammy Awards honor the music industries most talented and successful. The 53rd annual Grammy Awards took place Sunday, February 13, 2011 in Los Angeles and featured many explosive performances and memorable moments. The first shocking moment occurred when Lady Gaga arrived on the red carpet in a pod, representing the womb, and was carried down the carpet by a bevy of tan, half-naked people. The official show kicked off with a tribute to Aretha Franklin featuring five talented ladies including Christina Aguilera, Jennifer Hudson, Martina McBride, Yolanda Adams and Florence Welch from Florence and the Machine. The performance was a rousing homage and all involved sounded amazing, however Aguilera is starting to resemble Snooki in a blonde wig and stumbled a bit at the very end of the performance. Early in the show Lady Gaga “hatched” from her pod to perform her empowering new single, “Born This Way.” By Gaga standards her outfit was basic and, as my friend put it, she looked a bit like a noodle. The performance itself was fairly tame and dare I say a little boring, however the new song is quite great even if it does bear a resemblance to Madonna’s 1989 hit, “Express Yourself”. Justin Beiber’s much hyped act proved the teen a talented performer and featured a guest spot by a nimble Jaden Smith but when Usher took the stage immediately after he proved that the two have a long way to go before they can truly be compared to the best in the game. Lady Gaga won “Best Pop Vocal Album” and accepted her Grammy in a black leather get-up complete with horns on her forehead and shoulders. She also thanked all her “little monsters” a.k.a. her fans and Whitney Houston whom she envisioned singing “Born This Way” when she wrote it. Later in the show Bob Dylan performed and I respect Dylan and his immense talent but it might be time to retire, as his gravelly chanting was hardly pleasing, but maybe it was just an off night. The true standout performance came in the middle of the show from Cee-Lo Green and Gwyneth Paltrow featuring the Muppets. The duo sang Green’s song “Forget You” wearing costumes that I’m sure left Gaga green with envy. They sounded great and the performance was a shining moment in an otherwise fairly bleak show. Another well-received performance came from Bruno Mars, who sang a medley of his recent hits, with B.O.B. and Janelle Monae. Katy Perry, Rihanna and Eminem also all brought energy to the stage and solidified their superstar status. Mick Jagger, at 67 years old, took to the Grammy stage for the first time and proved that he can still keep up with the best of the best with an electric and energetic performance that riled up the crowd of celebrities and fans. The sex appeal of the night was brought by Rihanna during her “What’s My Name” performance with Drake when she strutted and posed her way across the stage looking absolutely stunning. When it comes to the actual awards it was a night of upsets with several relatively unknowns winning some of the main categories. Best New Artist went to Esperanza Spalding, beating Justin Beiber and Florence and the Machine and Album of the Year went to Arcade Fire who beat Eminem and Lady Gaga. Country group, Lady Antebellum took home Record of the Year for their smash hit “Need You Now” and Lady Gaga, Usher, Rihanna and Train all took home awards for their music as well. Arcade Fire closed the show and proved that they are indeed talented and perhaps worthy of the prestigious award bestowed upon them. The show featured some high points and some low points but overall it was an enjoyable event.

Miley Cyrus

I think it's about time I go out on a limb and defend my girl Miley Cyrus. So as well all know Miley was recently caught in a scandal which involved her alleged use of the drug Salvia. For those of you unfamiliar with the incident see the enclosed video Miley smokes Salvia.

Miley recently commented on the incident saying "I'm not perfect. I made a mistake. I'm disappointed in myself for disappointing my fans," Miley told the interviewer. But when pressed whether it truly was a mistake—thousands of colleges kids do the same thing (or worse) every day—Miley's answer was earnest and surprisingly mature. "But they're not Miley Cyrus," she explained. "They're not role models. So for me it was a bad decision, because of my fans and because of what I stand for."

I'd just like to say that, as someone who is 21 years of age I completely agree with what she is saying. Yes the things she chooses to do may be somewhat controversial and people judge her because they question her taste and judgment. Well I have something to say to all you HATERS.

Miley is a young woman who has made a career for herself in Hollywood. Starting at 13 years old Miley has been in the spotlight almost the entire time. Her life on Hannah Montana thrusted her into stardom including magazine covers, million dollar endorsements, and sold out concert tours around the world. I think that people tend to judge her because they don't understand her decisions. Well let me put it into terms us "normal" people might understand. Miley has grown up in the spotlight and has been forced to grow up fast. She was on forbes list in 2010 for making 48 MILLION $$$. I'd have to say that is quite an accomplishment. From her scandals of the magazine cover showing her nearly naked, to her leaked cell phone pictures and more recent music video and salvia controversy. I just think that people need to understand that she is young and is going to make mistakes. It just so happens that she is in the public eye and under intense scrutiny. How many of you have done things she did at 16,17, 18 years old. Kids these days are growing up a lot faster than older generations and I just think she deserves more credit than she is given. Miley is, in my opinion, a talented singer, songwriter, actress, model, and designer and this is all before she even turns 18 years old. SO i'd just like to ask, lets all take a moment and take a look at the amazing things Miley HAS done rather than look at how she has "let down her young fans" Miley has older fans like myself and she is growing and coming into her own. Obviously she can't sing about being Hannah Montana and dress like she's 12 years old forever. 18 year olds go to college, get drunk, experiment, dress inappropriately. But face it, the only reason people criticize her this way is because she is in the public eye and a role model.

So, in conclusion, i'd just like to say congratulations to Miley Cyrus, for all she has accomplished and everything she has to accomplish in the future. And to the HATERS, when you make 45 million dollars in one year, i'll listen to your reasoning for disliking her.

Also, this girl has started to look beautiful over the past couple of years.

Taylor Momsen

I was perusing the usual celebrity gossip blogs I frequent and I came across a picture of Taylor Momsen and her outfit offended me so much that I had to share the picture with all of our faithful readers. Keep in mind that she is 17 years old but this outfit would be heinous on anyone. Ugh I want to choke her with those tacky suspenders.
On a happier note I have found my weekly song obsession. This week it is "Rollin in the Deep" by Adele. I love the melody, the beat, the lyrics and her voice. Everything about it is amazing. Here is a live version which is even better than the album version.

WHAT A WEEK!

So, i've just realized that the blog hasn't been updated since MONDAY. How are we going to have loyal followers if we never update. Anyway, the Robyn concert was incredible. Her energy really gets the crowd going which I LOVE! After a long drive home from Vermont we we're blessed with an incredible snow day which resulted in eating tons of delicious food and spending the night drinking our livers to death. Aside from that I managed to make it to a total of 2 classes for the week. I think I may have set a new personal record with that one. Josh and I were supposed to go snow tubing today but the weather has prevented that. Now we are waiting for Sophieeeee to bless us with her presence and have an amazing night out with our friends. On another note I turn 22 in less than 2 weeks. I reallyyy am so excited for my birthday party! I know a few of you know what i'm being but for those of you who don't i'll just say it involves fishnet arm gloves and a great mask.

I've also been really obsessed with Madonna lately and think you all need to check out this AMAZING track.

Robyn Concert

Tonight we went to see Robyn in Vermont. Basically she was epically awesome and everyone should absolutely check her out/become obsessed with her. A major component of her awesome-ness was defined perfectly by Justin when he said that she is "DWG" a.k.a. Down With Gays. The club was def filled with some colorful homos but we were the cutest...duh. Robyn's energy was incomparable and I couldn't help but dance along for the entire hour. I def sweat off both tits and dropped a pants size....thanks Robyn! <3 Here are some of her best songs to get your obsession started.
